Greater than 96 p.c of voters on the Pacific territory of New Caledonia rejected independence from France in a 3rd referendum on Sunday that was boycotted by pro-independence teams, remaining outcomes confirmed.

With all ballots counted, 96.49 p.c had been towards independence, whereas solely 3.51 p.c had been in favour, with turn-out a mere 43.90 p.c, outcomes from the islands’ excessive fee confirmed.
